Assistant Principal: Dr. Michelle L. Coleman
 
Dr. Michelle L. Coleman serves as the Early College Assistant Principal at H. Grady Spruce CTE High School, where she leads with a commitment to equity, innovation, and student achievement. She believes in creating meaningful learning experiences that prepare students not only for college and careers, but also to thrive as engaged members of their communities.

She is dedicated to fostering an environment of excellence and growth within the educational community. With a deep commitment to student success, Dr. Coleman is passionate about helping students reach their full potential.

Dr. Coleman has a Doctorate of Philosophy in Education for Social Justice and a Master’s in Education, both from the University of San Diego. She has served as an educator for over 20 years in Richardson ISD, Frisco ISD, and Dallas ISD. During her career, Dr. Coleman has worked as a Social Studies Teacher, Curriculum Specialist, Assistant Principal, and most recently, the Workplace Learning Coordinator at W. T. White B-TECH.

Dr. Coleman believes that a successful school thrives when every stakeholder is actively invested in its mission. When educators, families, and the community work together with shared purpose, students receive the support they need to excel both academically and socially.

ECHS Program Coordinator: Rachel Burleson
 
Ms. Burleson is the Program Coordinator for the Early College High School.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development and Adolescent Studies from California State University, Fullerton, and began her teaching career in her hometown with the La Habra City School District in 1998.  Soon after, she moved to Dallas, Texas, where she received her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Texas A & M University, Commerce. For 13 years, she enjoyed her job as a middle school counselor, but when the opportunity arose to become a part of the Early College High School program, her goal was to assist students to achieve academic success, equip themselves with the tools to lead healthy, productive lives, and pursue their highest goals.

The program is made possible through the collaborative efforts of Dallas ISD and the Dallas County Community College District.  College tuition is paid through scholarships provided by the Dallas County Community College District.  Books and transportation are paid for through Dallas ISD.
